Fitness
It is really important for your safety, and the
enjoyment of other guests that you understand the
nature of our holidays. These are not
“coach tours”.
We are travelling to see archaeological sites in
unusual destinations, many of which involve walking
over uneven and potentially hazardous ground in order
to reach the site, and certainly in order to visit
it. Approaching sites on foot enhances your
understanding of the environment and the place of the
monument in its landscape, so we might even try to
build this into the visits.
There may be some very long days and some long
journeys, and some of the tours include rides in 4x4
vehicles over very bumpy terrain.
It may also be as well to remember that we go to
places where the expectations of hygiene and comfort
are very different from those in Britain.
The best thing would be to check with the office to
make sure you choose the right holiday.
Health
The following information is offered as guidance only
and is correct at the time of writing. You may
require a course of vaccinations over several weeks
and it is your responsibility to check with the
Department of Health or your own Doctor for the
latest requirements and to make sure that everyone in
your party complies with them.
If you are travelling in Europe, please remember to
take your European Health Insurance Card (the E111
has been replaced by the EHIC) as well as your travel
insurance. This will give you free or low cost
medical treatment while travelling within the
EU. Some insurance policies are rendered
invalid if do not have an EHIC. You can apply for one
by completing an application form available at the
post office or online at
www.dh.gov.uk/travellers.
