The Peloponnese - From Homer to Hadrian & beyond (2008)

Highlights

Allow Professor John Prag to introduce you to the land of Homer's heroes in the Peloponnese, including an opportunity to explore:

·          Apollo's Oracular Sanctuary in the hills at Delphi

·          The Palace of King Nestor at "Sandy Pylos"

·          The National Museum - full of Mycenean gold - and Acropolis in Athens

·          King Agamemnon's Mycenae

"The sites combined with the fine scenery which revealed how the geography was dictating the political development of the area."
 ...

This is the land of Homer’s heroes and the great Bronze Age citadels from which they came. In later times the Peloponnese was also home to major cities and sanctuaries of Classical Greece and impressive Byzantine and Frankish antiquities.

Travelling through a beautiful countryside of mountains, plains and seascapes, we begin at Delphi, crossing to the Peloponnese by the remarkable new Rion-Antirrion bridge - a 21st century work of art.
