Wessex - Walking through a Prehistoric Landscape (2008)

2.5 days £ 375 per person Next Tour: 04 July 2008 - 06 July 2008

This special weekend has been created around ‘Stonehengiana’ - Julian Richards’ exhibition of Stonehenge memorabilia, and includes a private view at Salisbury Museum. This is just part of an exploration of prehistoric Wessex, including an unforgettable private visit inside the circle of Stonehenge before the site is open to the public, followed by a walk with Julian through the surrounding ancient ceremonial landscape.

Time Team’s Phil Harding has agreed (filming schedule permitting) to give a flint-knapping demonstration which gives a very practical slant on life 3000 years ago. On Sunday we explore the huge henge at Avebury followed by a walk (3 hours) through some of Wiltshire’s most beautiful countryside to see the extraordinary monumental landscape surrounding Avebury.
