Celebrate #WorldTheatreDay with a cultural excursion

Today is #WorldTheatreDay, which launched back in 1962 as a way to not only honour the performing arts, but also to help raise awareness for the importance of creativity and artistic expression.

To celebrate this fantastic occasion, we thought we would highlight a selection of our tours that take in visits to world-renowned theatres around the globe. From performances on stage to backstage tours of iconic venues, see what experiences await you on an Andante Travels holiday...

1) Puccini Opera & Wine Festival

This glorious tour is operated by Travels In... and takes us to Lucca, one of Puccini's most beloved Italian towns. Along with tastings at wineries, cultural visits and two open-air opera performances, we will be treated to a very special private tour of the renowned Giglio Theatre, which was frequented by the composer himself.

2. Verdi Festival in Parma

Chart the life of this artist and his emerging creative vision. Enjoy a backstage tour of Teatro Regio, which was founded in 1821 and has staged all of Verdi's creations to date. We will also pay a visit to the mesmerising Teatro Farnese, a Baroque-style theatre that was constructed almost entirely out of wood.

3. Wexford | The Opera Festival

Lose yourself in glorious performances, visits to historic sites dotted around the local area and accept an invitation to a private reception at the National Opera House in Wexford. There will also be a special backstage tour at this venue, which was only opened in 2008.

4. Havana & the Ballet Festival

Not only does this exclusive event only take place once every two years, but we will be able to step behind-the-scenes at Havana's gorgeous Grand Theatre on this trip. This venue will also play host to three wonderful performances throughout the tour, which we will be lucky enough to enjoy as guests.
