One for the lovers of Tudor history and British monarchs! Join leading Tudor historian Elizabeth Norton for this fascinating day out at Hever Castle, the family home of Anne Boleyn – Henry VIII's second wife. Explore parts of the castle that are off-limits to members of the public, explore the surviving medieval rooms of the castle and tour its landscaped gardens.
Capital of the North - Medieval York | 14th August | £150pp
Discover the rich architectural heritage of York on this day led by Dr. Emma Wells. This study day includes a lecture on medieval York at Clifford's Tower, a walking tour of the city that visits the Merchant Adventurers' Hall and the Richard III experience at Monk Bar, and on-foot visits to sites that range from the ruins of St. Mary's Abbey to Kings Manor. The day culminates in a private tour of York Minster with exclusive access to the Tracery Room and Mason's Yard.
Ice Age Art at Creswell Crags | 12th June and 7th August | £145pp
Join the world's leading rock art expert – Dr. Paul Bahn – for this memorable adventure into the ancient world of Ice Age cave art. Led by none other than the fantastic Dr. Suzannah Lipscomb, this is perhaps our most popular study day. This day offers the chance to visit the Young Henry exhibition (previously known as the Wolsey Rooms), the Tudor State Apartments, Tudor kitchens, the Mantegna and Chapel Court, as well as spend some time wandering the castle's glorious gardens.
The Anglo-Saxon Agricultural Revolution & the Making of Medieval England | 24th July | £130pp
Enjoy unprecedented access to the archaeological site at Sedgeford – a project that was founded by the expert guide for this study day around 25 years ago. In Dr. Neil Faulkner's esteemed company, there will be a visit to the main excavation trench where close-up views of features currently being excavated can be enjoyed. Elsewhere, there are chances to handle animal bones, human remains and pottery, and Neil will deliver two captivating talks in Sedgeford's medieval church.
