This tour offers you a special insight into Venice during the Carnevale, a unique celebration suspended between past and present featuring a series of events. While viewing some of the many events that take place, we also give you a very privileged view of the city.We have private access to the iconic Doge’s palace and a private evening visit to St Mark’s Basilica.

Itinerary 2019

Day 1

We leave London and arrive in Venice. Upon arrival we head directly to Altinum, an ancient Roman coastal town. After we have discovered this historic area, we transfer to our hotel where we can relax for the remainder of the evening.

Day 2

Our day starts at the tiny island of Torcello. During our time here we explore the breathtaking interior of the Santa Maria Assunta Cathedral. We also visit the Santa Fosca and the Archaeological Museum. This afternoon, we make our way to the nearby Venetian island of Murano. Here we will tour the legendary glass factory and museum.

Day 3

Today we travel to the island of San Giorgio Maggiore, where we enjoy incredible views over this beautiful area from its church. Next, we admire the Santa Maria Gloriosa dei Frari, which is notable for housing impressive Renaissane artworks. We continue on to the Scuola Grande Di San Rocco. After lunch at a traditional osteria, we walk via the Rialto Bridge to San Giovanni e Paolo - a stunning Italian Gothic church that houses interesting funerary monuments and paintings. Our final visit of the day is to Santa Maria dei Miracoli, an incredible church with a glorious marble interior.

Day 4

This morning we tour the magnificent Doge’s Palace, a marvel of Venetian Gothic architecture. Our special tour here offers an unique insight into the political and civil history of the Venice Republic. After lunch, we move on to visit the Archaeological Museum and Correr Museum, home to enchanting exhibits on Venetian history. This evening we enjoy a very special private tour of the legendary St. Marks Basilica.

Day 5

We begin our day with a glorious walk that takes in San Giorgio dei Greci, a church with a classically Venetian exterior and striking paintings inside. Next, we visit the Scuola Grande di San Giorgio, where we see panels painted by Vittore Carpaccio between 1502 and 1507. We then continue on to the Venetian Arsenal to view the gate. After lunch, we view San Pietro in Castello, the city’s first cathedral.

Day 6

We walk along the iconic Ponte dell’Accademia which leads us to San Pantalon church, famous for its magnificent Baroque ceiling painted by Fumiani. This afternoon we will embark on a tour of the Grand Canal.

Day 7

This morning we take a water taxi to the airport where we catch our return flight to London and bid farewell to our group.

Itinerary 2020

Day 1

We leave London and arrive in Venice. Upon arrival, we head to Altinum, an ancient Roman coastal town abandoned after the Hunnic and Gothic invasions when the population sought refuge in the Venetian lagoon. We then transfer to our hotel where we can relax for the remainder of the evening.

Day 2

This morning we have a special access visit to the Biblioteca Marciana, which has a unique collection of ancient manuscripts. We continue to the magnificent Doge’s Palace, where we we have a private tour of the prisons including the Bridge of Sighs. This evening we enjoy a private tour of the legendary St. Mark’s Basilica.

Day 3

Today we explore the lives of the Venetian elites. We start with a visit to the iconic palazzo Ca’ d’Oro, one of the oldest palazzi on the Grand Canal and we continue with a private visit to the Casino Zane for a glimpse into shadier elite past times. We end the day with the visit to Ca’ Rezzonico now a museum of the 18th century.

Day 4

We travel by private boat to Murano where we will visit the Venier glass factory for a glass-blowing demonstration. We continue to the tiny island of Torcello, where we explore the Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta. Our last visit will be to Burano, where we will take in the Carnevale activities laid out especially for today.

Day 5

We start the day with a visit to the iconic Basilica of Santa Maria Gloriosa dei Frari and continue to Tintoretto’s masterpiece, the Scuola Grande di San Rocco. In the afternoon, we attend a lecture on the history of masks at Venice’s most famous mask atelier, Ca’ Macana.

We go to the airport for our flight back home.
