Experience the history of Verona, from its stunning amphitheatre to its religious architecture, and explore the charming town of Brescia with its many stories. We will visit several amazing archaeological parks, each home to fascinating remains, and our expert guide’s boundless knowledge will enlighten us on the tales behind the sites on this eight-day adventure.

This morning we fly to Verona from London. Upon arrival, we transfer to our hotel and enjoy dinner together as a group.
Our day begins at the Brescia Santa Giulia Museum and after stopping for lunch, we continue to the heart of the ancient city to explore the capitolium, forum and theatre. Later, we take a stroll to the Duomo and visit the impressive Romanesque basilica and Paleochristian remains below. Dinner this evening will be in the centre of Brescia and then we return to our hotel.
We start the morning with a walk to see the Roman remains below Palazzo Martinengo. After lunch, we make our way to the castle and tour the Roman gateway, temple steps and medieval fortress.
We explore the Roman Sanctuary of Minerva in Cividate, along with the Cividate archaeological park. After lunch, we drive to Rocca di Manerba to see its impressive archaeological park. Here, we visit a Neolithic site with a small Roman temple as well as a medieval castle, which boasts magnificent views over Lake Garda. There is also time to visit the museum.
Today we explore a series of villas. First, we drive to Villa Toscolana Maderno and enjoy some time here, and then we move on to Desenzano Villa before having lunch on the lake. In the afternoon, we drive to Sirmione to visit the remains of the Villa of Catullus as well as the Archaeological Museum. While we’re in the area, we will also stop at the Church of San Pietro in Mavino. The most ancient church of Sirmione, it is charming inside and out. Later, we drive to Verona.
This morning, we head to the impressive Verona amphitheatre, which was built in the first century and is still in use today for opera performances. Following lunch in Verona, we continue on with our day of touring and enjoy hidden sites with archaeologist Simon Thompson. These include the Capitolium remains beneath a restaurant, a site under the guild hall and a storage area under a clothes shop. Dinner tonight will be at a restaurant in Verona.
We go underground this morning to SASS - the Tridentium la città sotterranea. After touring this evocative site, we visit the Duomo and the Paleochristian cathedral below. Next we have lunch at a local restaurant before rounding off our day at the striking Castello del Buonconsiglio and its museum.
There will be some free time in the morning before we return to the airport and catch our flight home.
