Fairytale castles, opulent royal palaces and awe-inspiring architecture await us on this six-day discovery of Munich’s performing arts scene and its rich history. Bask in the undeniable splendour of the Residenz, the former home of Bavarian monarchs that is open to the public and houses scintillating royal collections, meet the people behind the scenes at the National Theatre and attend a series of performances in this historic German city.

This tour offers an enchanting escape into the culture that can be found here and we experience it through visits to unique museums, tours of historic buildings that highlight the architecture of this region, and also through the passion and knowledge shared with us by our expert guide throughout this trip. Itinerary 2019

Day 1

Fly from London to Munich. Upon arrival, we check into our hotel and have dinner at a restaurant.

Day 2

This morning, we visit the Munich Residenz, former home of the Bavarian Wittelsbach monarchs. A guided tour that takes in the Cuvilliés Theatre and allows for some free time follows. After lunch, we enjoy an exclusive opportunity to meet people who work behind-the-scenes at the National Theatre. This evening, we enjoy a performance of Salome by Richard Strauss, at the National Opera House.

Day 3

We visit Neuschwanstein Castle and stop for lunch at Hohenschwangau, then we return to Munich. Free time and an evening meal follows later.

Day 4

Our day begins at Munich’s Stadtmuseum, where we have a private tour. This museum houses a collection of musical instruments and plays host to an on-site sound laboratory. After lunch at the museum’s café, leisure time in the city awaits. After dinner, we are treated to a performance – Concert at the Cuvillies Theatre, at the Residenz Palace.

Day 5

Today, we depart for Nymphenburg Palace, once the summer residence of Bavarian rulers. After lunch at the museum and in the early evening, we enjoy the final performance of our tour - Turandot by Puccini, at the National Opera House in Munich.

Day 6

The time has come for this tour to end, but we have a little free time in Munich before our flight.
