Itinerary 2019

Day 1

This morning, we meet at our London airport and can have lunch independently before boarding our plane. Upon arrival in Turin, we make our way into the city and enjoy an introductory lecture from our Guide, where the history and culture of the area will be highlighted. Dinner will be served at
our hotel this evening.

Day 2

We begin our day with a walk through Turin, taking in the charming Piazza San Carlo and Piazza Carignano, which was once a private residence but now houses the Museum of the Risorgimento. From here, we walk through Piazza Carlo Alberto, Galleria Subalpina and Piazza Castello, before pausing for lunch at a local restaurant. In the afternoon, we visit the Palazzo Reale and then walk to the Santurario della Consolata. This striking church has an eclectic collection of architecture, including parts of an ancient Roman wall, baroque domes and a bell-tower. It was originally built in the style of a basilica, but it has since been restored and rebuilt by monks. This evening we will have dinner at a local restaurant.

Day 3

Today, we take a drive out to Saluzzo, a small town located in the Piedmont region with stunning views and a 15th century old town. When we arrive, we are treated to a private tour of Casa Cavassa. This Renaissance-style palazzo is home to the city’s Museo Civico Casa Cavassa, which houses furniture and artworks. We make a stop at a local restaurant where we have lunch, and in the afternoon we visit the Castello della Manta. Fresco cycles, art and architecture make this a fascinating place to explore. Once we’ve spent enough time taking in the history here, we make our way back to Turin and enjoy dinner at a local restaurant.

Day 4

Venaria Palace is our destination this morning and we spend a few hours exploring it upon arrival. This former royal residence is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the palace complex is home to stately halls, exhibits and remarkable works of art. After lunch, we return to Turin and then there will be free time available for us to wander the charming streets, browse local shops for souvenirs or just stop for coffee to watch the world go by in Piedmont’s capital.

Day 5

A unique experience awaits us this morning as we pay a visit to the breathtaking Sacra di San Michele. This is a truly stunning ancient abbey that inspired writer Umberto Eco’s novel ‘The Name of the Rose’, and it offers amazing views over Turin and the Val di Susa. Later, we lunch at a local restaurant and then make our way back to Turin. Another afternoon of free time awaits us, before our final day tomorrow. In the evening, we
enjoy a meal at a local restaurant.

Day 6

A leisurely morning awaits before we meet for lunch at our hotel, and then we pay a visit the amazing Palazzo Madama. After a tour here, we return to the airport and catch our flight back to our London airport.
