Fly to Athens. Our exploration of this historic city begins with visits to the Athenian Agora, the social and political centre of ancient Athens, and the Roman Agora.

Day 2

No stay in Athens would be complete without a visit to the Acropolis and its extraordinary temples, including the iconic Parthenon. In the afternoon, we visit the grand new Acropolis Museum, housing precious statuary from the ancient site.

Day 3

Join us on a guided visit to Eleusis, now little-known but in ancient times a religious shrine equal of Delphi, before embarking Aegean Odyssey in the nearby port of Piraeus.

Day 4

A choice of shore excursions to legendary Sparta and the fortified town of Mystras or the spectacular Caves of Diros.

Day 5

A walking tour is the best way to appreciate the stunning city of Dubrovnik, likened to ‘paradise on earth’ by George Bernard Shaw.

Yet another choice of shore excursions invites appreciation of the myriad architectural treasures of Lecce, or the traditional white-washed houses (trulli) of Alberobello.

Day 10

From Catania choose an afternoon walking tour of Taormina, so renowned for its glorious ancient theatre, or an excursion to the impressive classical ruins of Syracuse.

Both Pompeii and Herculaneum perished in the same calamitous Vesuvian eruption. You have the choice of which of these poignant sites to visit.

Day 12
