There could be no venue for opera more spectacular than the Arena in Verona. Built by the Romans some 2,000 years ago, the amphitheater still continues to provide a setting for many open-air opera productions every summer. The main opera house in Verona, the Teatro Filarmonico, was built in the 18th century and it was carefully restored after suffering damage due to bombing back in 1945.

Surrounded by mountains and lakes, Verona is the ideal center for exploring the culture of the surrounding region. Famous wines such as Soave, Valpolicella and Amarone are produced here and the delicious Monte Veronese cheese continues to be made following traditional methods. Garda is the largest lake in Italy and lies to the west of Verona. Here, lemons, believed to have been introduced by the monks from Liguria, have been cultivated since the 15th century. Join us for a week of stunning performances and rich culture.
