Dr Ian Friel
Dr Ian Friel has an international reputation as a maritime historian. After a long career working in museums (including the National Maritime, Greenwich, the Mary Rose and Chichester District Museum), Ian became an independent historian, museum consultant and writer. Ian has also undertaken a wide range of historical research projects, including house histories (everything from a Victorian laundry to a small Georgian estate!) and the identification of an important 17th-century shipwreck found off the Dorset coast.
