Peter Berridge

After studying archaeology at University College Cardiff, Peter Berridge then spent four years working there researching Stonehenge as a Research Assistant to Professor Richard Atkinson, followed by a five year stint as a freelance heritage consultant in Devon. In 1991, he became Archaeology Curator at Woodspring Museums; in 1994 Archaeology Curator at Colchester; and in 1998, head of Colchester Museums, beginning in a process which culminated, in April 2007, with the creation of a new joint museum service covering Colchester and Ipswich. After running the joint museum service for six years, Peter has moved on to research and writing on a wide range of archaeological and historical subjects, as well as conducting some freelance work in the museum and heritage sector.
