Jesse Watson

Jesse Watson is a historian who specialises in the cultural and political history of China’s early empires. He is currently a Ph.D. candidate in the department of History at the University of California, Berkeley where he teaches courses in the history of China, with a particular focus on the early period. He took a master’s degree at Peking University where he received extensive training in archaeology and the study of early Chinese manuscripts. During his time in China he visited archaeological sites in 28 of China’s 33 provinces. In addition to his academic work, Jesse has contributed essays on regional art and archaeology to three travel guidebooks.
