Urbino & Hidden Gems in Le Marche
From £2,045
Summary
Urbino was seen as the ideal renaissance city at the time of Duke Federico da Montefeltro, who patronised luminaries such as Piero della Francesca, Raphael’s father, Giovanni Santi, and Baldassare Castiglione, who wrote his timeless masterpiece on the Renaissance gentleman with Urbino in mind. A city which retains much of its medieval layout, Urbino is one of the most staggeringly beautiful cities in Italy and one of the most important in terms of Renaissance art. We will be exploring one of the finest Ducal Palaces in Italy, which includes a stunning collection of art. Not far way, we explore the stunning archaeology of Ancona, including its imposing Arch of Trajan, as well as admiring the late antique mosaics of the Cathedral of Pesaro and a visit to the Villa Imperiale. This tour takes you to a less travelled part of Italy filled with Renaissance art and Roman gems.
