Peter Berridge
Peter has published on a range of archaeological subjects including prehistoric stone tools and Norman castles. He has worked on excavations in Britain, Gibraltar and Morocco. His particular passion is the study of Colchester Castle.
Peter Berridge is an archaeologist with a wide range of research interests. In his early years his main focus was in prehistory, including being involved in work on Stonehenge, and having a particular interest in the study of the Mesolithic and Neolithic of South-West England and Wales. He has had a long association with cave archaeology participating in projects in England, Gibraltar and Morocco. Managing museums in Colchester has heavily involved him in Roman archaeology and the history of the town. Today his main research interests relate to early Norman castles, especially Colchester Castle, as well as the development of archaeology in Britain in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries.
